Some kids playing near their Las Vegas neighborhood stumbled onto the body of an African American female. A victim of a knife attack, the sight of the body was gruesome. It was bloody. It was horrifying. The kids, likely traumatized for life, when questioned by authorities, could only cry for their mothers. But that was not the significant takeaway from the event. It was only the beginning. A preliminary investigation found that the murder had taken place at a convention center, some five miles away. It was unclear how the body ended up in a Walmart parking lot near a residential neighborhood.
Police assumed the case was a random act and based their investigation on that assumption. During the investigation, however, the body count rose to eight. Clues had all but identified the killer, yet no arrests had been made. Suddenly, without explanation, the police quietly closed their investigation.

Harper discovers that the murders, while unfortunate, had nothing to do with the real, more sinister crime taking place in plain view.
Harper Mane - The H E R Murders is a witty, dark tale of intrigue with non-stop edge-of-your-seat excitement. The author cleverly maneuvers towards a methodically developing climax, exposing an elusive truth that will leave you yearning for a sequel.

Scott came home that evening expecting his normally calm, upscale suburban neighborhood to be normal and calm. The sight of police, fire department, and helicopters hovering above his house did not seem normal and calm. The crashed car on the lawn near the front entrance of his home foretold the chaos within. A detective warned him the scene inside would be traumatic. The sight of his wife sitting in a pool of blood on the living room floor was a bit more than traumatic. The sight of blood on the walls, on the ceiling, everywhere, was a bit more than traumatic. But the sight of a man's savagely butchered body on the kitchen floor took traumatic to an entirely new level. What happened that fateful evening? Who killed the guy in the kitchen? And by what miracle did his wife survive?
What led to that fateful evening was years in the making. From the very beginning, things between husband and wife were not at all what they seemed. Someone in the household was not who they claimed to be. But then, neither was the other someone in the household. As old secrets came to light, it became clear the marriage could not survive. But this is not a story of betrayal, of infidelity. This story goes much deeper than that. This story is about paths that crossed before either of them was born.
What began as a boy meets girl, boy falls in love, boy marries girl story, quickly morphed into the terrifying inner workings of an altered mind, foreign intrigue, and courting with assassins story. An organization intentionally brought together two people who never should have even known each other. The fallout resulted in someone’s desperate attempt to cover for a botched covert operation that occurred years earlier. No one had any idea what a colossal mistake that was until it was much too late to reverse course.
As things unfolded, a realization emerged that divorce, though not yet on the table, could not be an option. There were too many secrets, too much emotional pain, and too many people working behind the scenes to ensure an unthinkable outcome. One of the two, husband or wife, simply could not to survive.
The District Attorney accused Susan Daniels of killing her husband. During the trial, she sat motionless and looked straight ahead as the prosecution painted a horrifying picture of her as a monster. Her lifeless expression throughout the trial gave the jury little to counter the prosecution’s claim. The crime scene photos left jurors visibly shaken as they highlighted the destruction left behind.
Her husband, Shawn Daniels, was a self-made millionaire. After her initial reluctance, they married following a whirlwind courtship. All seemed fine in the beginning. The magic of the new chapter of their lives held true for a while, but, unknown to Susan, Shawn had a past that gave cause for alarm. His cheating and drug use came to the forefront almost immediately. His other transgressions were much more serious, much more sinister, as an unsuspecting Susan would find out.
None of Shawn’s friends or family knew of his drug dependency or of how truly sick he was. No one one could warn Susan before the marriage of the dangers that lie ahead. After their marriage, his dependency became much worse. The frustration of trying to hide it became increasingly difficult to control. Eventually, Susan became an unwilling target of his most troubling behavior.
As Shawn’s inability to deal with his personal life spilled over into public view, so did exposure of some of his company’s most valued investors. Unfortunately, those investors were predominantly mob bosses who condemned the unwanted exposure. Shawn, a coward at heart, was terrified of their pressure tactics to force change, and began offering Susan in exchange for leniency.
Susan endured extensive amounts of physical and mental abuse from both Shawn and his unsavory associates. When Shawn got in trouble with the mob, he never took the beatings himself. He volunteered Susan instead. At what point would she say enough? Would her torment force her to do the unthinkable?
At the height of Susan’s tortured life, Shawn took on a mistress, Rita Daschard, and a very public affair ensued. He flaunted her around town as if he were no longer married. He assumed she just wanted his money, but she had a much more sinister agenda. An agenda that would plunge an unsuspecting Susan into even greater danger and emotional torment. As Susan’s suffering became unbearable, she vowed to fight back.
At the trial, the prosecution painted Susan as a cold-blooded killer, a murderer, a savage for the way she had mutilated her husband’s body. The District Attorney was a seasoned, well-respected prosecutor. He saw the case as open and shut. His arrogance was on full display as he openly mocked his opponent, a young inexperienced law school grad. Would the prosecutor prevail? Or would his young adversary prove to be more of a challenge than he expected?
Susan no longer cared what happened to her. In the courtroom, as the prosecution presented a trove of graphic crime scene photos, she showed no emotion, which led some jurors to loathe her. Her young attorney had his work cut out for him. Could he convince an already biased jury that Susan was innocent?
This is Susan Daniels’ story of pain, suffering, and unimagined public humiliation. As she fights for her life in court, would the truth come out? Did she kill her husband? Could her young attorney convince the jury she was innocent? Would Susan get retribution?

She was the victim of an intricate plan of evil. Someone with a deranged mind, someone capable of controlling the thoughts and actions of remote hosts, scripted the torture, murder, and mutilation of her body. Hers should have been the only murder. The killer hadn’t tried to evade capture. There were clues and tons of evidence intentionally scattered about the crime scene. The plan’s success, in fact, depended on the killer’s capture. A police force ill-equipped to handle a case of that magnitude, however, bungled the initial investigation and the killer subsequently escaped. Or had he? The lead detective began receiving messages, assumedly from the killer, taunting him for his inability to solve the case.
Help would come as a vacationing FBI agent read about the murder and offered help. But was she really there to help? She was a wickedly beautiful woman with a powerfully seductive demeanor. She swept the lead detective off his feet and a romance ensued. Would he be he blinded by lust? Were her sexual innuendos real, or part of an even more elaborate plan of evil? Romance, murder, and evil would all come together to forge an ultimate deception.
As the investigation continued, more mutilated bodies appeared. There were minor differences between the original murder and the new ones, however. Those differences gave rise to suspicion they were dealing with a copycat murderer. The lead detective’s rookie partner suspected the FBI agent was not who she claimed she was. He set out on a mission to expose her. The deeper he dug, the more cause for alarm he felt.
As a suspect came into focus, the FBI agent tried to convince the lead detective that he had the wrong person. He was under tremendous pressure to solve the case, however, and wouldn’t listen. The messages the lead detective received from the murderer implicated the FBI Agent. By then, however, he was hopelessly in love with her and outright dismissed them.
When the detectives finally took a suspect into custody, the story took an unnatural turn towards the paranormal. Unexplainable things began happening to the suspect. It was as if he was being controlled by an outside force, a force that was feeding instructions directly into his brain. Everyone around him could see the sheer terror on his face, as he’d cower in a corner of his cell as if trying to get away from an invisible attacker.
In the end, the coroner gave the detective a choice only he could make. Would he let a killer go free, or see the imprisonment of a close friend? Would he make the right decision? Could he?
Murder, intrigue, and evil forces would all play a role in an unholy act of ultimate revenge. Through seduction and satanic mind control, innocent people became pawns used to carry out the impulses of a modern day demon.
